There has been a nest near the top of an evergreen in the area you describe
for a few years. A couple months go I noted it was no longer there (don't
know when it came down) and suspect it fell victim to a storm or gross
weight. It's a pretty good bet the resident pair are rebuilding.

This morning while driving through Gorst I saw an eagle carrying a very
large twig, almost a small branch, up into a very tall evergreen south of
the freeway. Looks like the beginnings of a large nest there or they are
repairing an old one. Don't remember ever seeing a nest in this particular
tree though. The wind was making the bird's flight a little wobbly but it
made it into the tree with no difficulty. Birding at 55 mph can be so much
fun....
