In the interest of allowing people the continuing opportunity to see
the Hawk Owl, I, and my birding buddy, Ryan saw the hawk owl twice
yesterday at Hart's Pass. Driving from B.C. , we didn't arrive until
1:00 p.m. , when we immediately saw the owl from the road leading
beyond the Meadow Campground. We followed a doctor/birder driving up
the hill. He had just seen, and photographed it in the campground
itself, and it had flown up- hill from there. The first view for us
was distant, but definite. The bird then flew, and we rediscovered it
about an hour and a half later in from the road leading from the
campground back towards the turnoff for Hart's Pass Road. This view
was closer and sunlit.
Neither one of us has a good camera, so I can't post pictures.
Beth is right that there were a number of hunters/hikers in the area.
Some had dogs, so maybe the bird was being a little coy, with all the
activity around. Cheers, Thor
