After photographing the hawk-owl I searched for other birds but found very
few. As I was driving down the one-lane road from the pass I came upon a
female SOOTY GROUSE standing beside the road. Although she wasn't as tame as
a chicken she did allow me to take a few pictures, both beside the road and
after she flew up into a tree (spooked by a passing vehicle).
