Hi Tweeters,

I led a Rainier Audubon trip to W Sea yesterday. At Jack Block Park a migrating Western Meadowlark was perched up on a small tree. We got as good a looks as we could looking sort of sunward. Then shortly after admiring this out of place bird an Anna's Hummingbird harassed it into moving to another tree. Then the hummer harassed it again and it flew. The first hummer was joined by a second chasing the meadowlark out of the area. It is no wonder hummers were a War God of the Aztec, pretty fierce birds for their size.

We also saw a beautiful yellow-shafted Northern Flicker fly through here. The sparraws were skulky at Jack Block but we finally saw both White and Golden-crowned Sparrows.

The big highlight was at least 25 Harlequin Ducks at Constellation Park, past the Alki light house. The Duwamish Head didn't produce but we did see Black Turnstones down near the Harlequins. Horned Grebes have returned in force and we also saw Western and Red-necked Grebes.

It was nice to have a couple of local people join the trip and we visited a small pocket park which has a small but nice beach access and you can see what is hanging out under the condo's that jut out into the water, a link here:

At Me Kwa Mooks we saw a Brown Creeper and heard a Hutton's Vireo.

It was nice trip with a great group of people.
