I was awake last night just at the same time a Barred Owl was advertising its presence! First time I've heard one here in the 10 years I've been here (Renton/Maple Valley Highlands).
One oddity was that the calls were pairs of "Who-cooks-for-you", without the trailing "all" on the last part.
Indicative of a young bird, maybe? Or is that fairly common?

Brings my yard-bird Owls to 5 species!
(Great-horned, Western Screech, Barn, Northern Pygmy, and Barred)
