Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday October 16. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls

Conspicuous movements during the week included BROWN PELICANS along the
coast, FLICKERS and GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROWS. Several WHITE-THROATED SPARROWS
were also reported.

On October 14 a NORTHERN SHRIKE was at Brookings. On October 12 a SWAMP
SPARROW and five LAPLAND LONGSPURS were at Flores Lake. A CLAY-COLORED
SPARROW and a PALM WARBLER were at nearby Cape Blanco October 13. A PALM
WARBLER was seen in Brookings October 13, and two were in the Coos Bay area
October 15. A TROPICAL KINGBIRD was seen October 15 at Cape Blanco.

A NORTHERN SHRIKE was in Newport October 10. On October 11 over 3600 BROWN
PELICANS were at Yaquina Head. Over 3000 HEERMANN?S GULLS were in Lincoln
City October 12. Very large flocks of AMERICAN WIGEON, PINTAILS, and
MALLARDS are now on Tillamook Bay.

On October 13 a WESTERN GREBE and five SURF SCOTERS were on the Willamette
River in downtown Portland. Three STILT SANDPIPERS were seen October 11 at
the Fernhill Wetlands. Up to 10,000 CACKLING GEESE are still being seen
there. On October 13 a ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK was at Finley NWR. A SHARP-TAILED
SANDPIPER is now being seen at Fern Ridge Reservoir.

On October 12 four COMMON LOONS, 9 WESTERN GREBES, and 22 EARED GREBES were
on Haystack Reservoir near Madras; A COMMON LOON, two SURF SCOTERS, and six
CLARK?S GREBES were on Prineville Reservoir.
