Highlights of a few hours of relatively slow birding at the River S
Unit of Ridgefield NWR today include a first year BLACK-CROWNED
NIGHT-HERON in the canal east of the road just before sign post 12, a
rather large (presumably female) immature tundrius PEREGRINE FALCON
eating something on the edge of Rest Lake, and five GREATER-WHITE
FRONTED GEESE in the SW corner of Rest Lake. My previous sightings
this year of GWF Geese in the SW corner of Rest Lake have contained
immature birds; today, all five birds were adults.
