Tweets,

Saturday I hiked out to West Point in Discovery Park and stared out into the
sound for over an hour hoping for something strange to fly by. Five
HEERMANN'S GULLS were feeding with a couple hundred California Gulls in the
midst of a colorful regatta. Three adult THAYER'S GULLS at the point were
new for the fall. Three small white-bellied alcids flew by way heading south
out in mid-channel which I suspect were ANCIENT MURRELETS, which would be a
tad early.

Sunday Nancy and I drove to Stevens Pass and hiked to Scenic Lake up the
trail that last winter proved so productive of winter finches. It was quiet
with just a few Gray Jays to liven the hike. Beautiful fall color on the
slope up to the pass. Best bird was an adult GOLDEN EAGLE soaring south of
Scenic Lake over the ski area. On the way home we spotted a WESTERN
SCRUB-JAY along West Snoqualmie River Road nw of Duvall, where I've not seen
them before.
