Hi All:

I'm well aware of scrub-jays' corvid tendencies. I have seen them drive other birds away from feeders and see them targeting nesting passerines every year. And I know we don't need another corvid species here.
However, they are so much fun to watch! I couldn't could say it any better than Daniel Brown says it below.
In interactions with Stellers Jays, I have always seen the scrubs dominate.
In terms of food that I can identify, other than eggs, nestlings and unshelled peanuts, I've also watched them dig various things up from lawns and hawk flying insects from the tops of trees.

One thing to be said for the scrubs is that they are enormously entertaining--they're smart, curious, and flamboyant. You won't be bored if they do show up in your neighborhood.
