Steven and Tweeters,

The numbers we are recording are how many swifts we caught going into
the chimney each night, with all nights totaled. Kind of like a hotel
keeping track of how many guests they had in a particular two month
period. Did any of the hotel guests stay for more than one evening?
If they stayed a week are they one guest or seven?

There is supposed to be a complete turnover at a roost site in the
southbound migration every ten days for Chimney Swifts. We assumed
many of our guests were there for more than one night only. To harvest
population numbers one needs to have observers at all the roost sites
on the same days. We also did that. Need to do more of that. Also
need to figure a way for everyone to be counting using the same
accurate method.
