I spent Wednesday and Thursday birding out at the coast where there
were plenty of birds around, most notably including an Ovenbird at
Leadbetter Point Wednesday afternoon. There was also a Sharp-tailed
Sandpiper at Leadbetter and a Rusty Blackbird on Brady Loop Road.

Here are the highlights:

Tundra Swan - 1 at Potter Slough E of South Bend on 10/23
Eurasian Wigeon - 7 S of Bruceport on 10/23
White-winged Scoter - 1 at Hoquiam STP on 10/23
Long-tailed Duck - 12 on the bay side of Leadbetter Point on 10/22
Eared Grebe - 1 at Hoquiam STP on 10/23
Sooty/Short-tailed Shearwater - 50+ of apparently both species (2+
Sooty, 5+ ST) from North Head Lighthouse on 10/22
Rough-legged Hawk - 2 at Leadbetter on 10/22
Peregrine Falcon - 4 at Leadbetter on 10/22, 1 at Raymond on 10/23, 1+
at Midway Beach on 10/23, 1 at Bottle Beach on 10/23
Willet - 20 at Tokeland on 10/23
Long-billed Curlew - 20 at Graveyard Spit, Tokeland on 10/23
Marbled Godwit - 930 at Tokeland on 10/23
SHARP-TAILED SANDPIPER - 1 flushed several times from the salicornia
at Leadbetter on 10/22
Herring Gull - 29 adults at Leadbetter on 10/22
Black-legged Kittiwake - 5 flying over ocean side at Leadbetter on 10/22
Great Horned Owl - 1 at Leadbetter Point on 10/22
Barred Owl - 1 at North Head on 10/22
Yellow-shafted X Red-shafted Flicker - 1 on the island at Leadbetter
that looked nearly like a YSFL but had some red coloration to the
upper part of the malar, also the yellow shafts were more marigold in
color than a pure YSFL would be
Northern Shrike - 1 at Leadbetter Point on 10/22
Horned Lark - 2 at Leadbetter Point on 10/22
Hermit Thrush - 1 S of North Cove on 10/23
Townsend's Warbler - 1M along Hwy 105 on 10/23
OVENBIRD - 1 on the island at Leadbetter on 10/22. Silent. Flushed
up off the ground where I was able to take two pictures before it
vanished. Exact location can be seen by entering these coordinates at

Lapland Longspur - 90+ at Leadbetter on 10/22 - flocks of 60, 25 & 9
were seen plus a few single birds and smaller groups
Western Meadowlark - 1 at Leadbetter on 10/22
RUSTY BLACKBIRD - 1 at Brady Loop Road on 10/23 - Seen in a blackbird
and starling flock near the pumpkin farm along the east side of the
loop
