Greetings,

While over on the east side yesterday with Charlie Wright, we pished in a pair of chickadees at Spring Canyon Campground in Lincoln Co. east of Grand Coulee. It appeared we had a Black-capped and a Mountain Chickadee, except the Mountain Chickadee vocalizations where identical to the calling Black-capped Chickadee. Visually it looked a bit problematic for Mountain with the flanks being more buffy than I usually see in Mountain, and the secondaries had the white edging to them typical of a Black-capped.

Other highlights in the area included 2 Surf Scoters and 2 White-winged Scoters on the north end of Lake Lenore, 2 Dunlin and a Black-bellied Plover at the south end of Soap Lake.

Cheers,

Ryan Shaw
