I received the following request for information on a bird near
the I-5 Bridge in Vancouver, Clark County. The description isn't much
help but perhaps the tags may help with finding out what this bird is for
the person who spotted it.


Hello, I was wondering what was on the roof of my work yesterday. There
was a bird about 2 foot tall with gray and brown feathers, and I thought
it was a red-tailed hawk. He looked awfully big in the chest area like
maybe a falcon. The real noticeable thing was on each side of the
shoulders was a red tag with the letter C . What and why are these
tags, and does this guy have a name ?
I work near the I-5 bridge at the Columbia river. Do you have any
information on this guy ?
