Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday October 30. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls

On October 26 a fresh dead BROWN BOOBY was found on the beach near the South
Jetty of Coos Bay. A CURLEW SANDPIPER was seen October 24 at Bandon Marsh.
On October 26 a MAGNIFICENT FRIGATEBIRD was reported from Portland?s Oaks
Bottom. A BEWICK?S SWAN was seen October 25 at Chickahominy Reservoir near
Riley.
TUNDRA SWANS, ROUGH-LEGGED HAWKS, and EURASIAN WIGEON were reported from
many areas during the week. BROWN PELICANS continue abundant along the coast
as a fairly heavy gull movement is noticeable. The seasons first ROCK
SANDPIPER was seen October 25 at Bob Creek in Lane County.
On October 24 four LONG-TAILED DUCKS were off the South Jetty of Yaquina
Bay. A female PINE GROSBEAK was seen October 27 east of Seaside along the
trail up Saddle Mountain.
An EMPEROR GOOSE is now being seen at Dawson Creek Corporate Park in
Hillsboro. On October 24 a NORTHERN SHRIKE was north of Hillsboro. A male
EURASIAN TEAL was at the Fernhill Wetlands October 26. A BLACK-CROWNED
NIGHT-HERON was there October 27. On October 25 a late female RUFOUS
HUMMINGBIRD was in Eugene. There is now a flock of GRAY-CROWNED ROSY-FINCHES
on Marys Peak west of Philomath.
On October 25 a SURF SCOTER was at Hood River. A BLACK-LEGGED KITTIWAKE was
seen October 25 at The Dalles Dam. Two NORTHERN SHRIKES were in Enterprise
October 23. On October 24 two adult HERRING GULLS were at the Burns Sewage
Ponds.
