Hi Tweeters

I talked with the Stanwood Public Works Director tonight and he said it was OK to pass this on to the group. The sewer ponds are definitely accessible to birders, but with some changes from past years. They have had problems with vandalism, even including theft of a vehicle. They are also concerned about liability, such as people potentially falling into the ponds, etc. For these reasons they have increased security and decreased access. He is definitely not against birders using the property. He said he is unaware of a birder ever causing a problem.

New Access Instructions:

He suggested parking in the QFC parking lot and walking across Highway 532 at the nearby stop light, then walking into the ponds from the north side, at a gate to the west of the light, on the south side of Hwy 532.
