I'm going down thru the latest postings, and deleting a lot of them. But as a couple sailed past, it dawned on me that I have a comment to make regarding Stellar's Jays mimicking other birds. Actually, what I recall is about the eastern Blue Jay in the greater South Miami area of Florida.

A pair of Blue Jays were threading their way slowly thru the loose thicket along the property boundary one day, when I was sitting out by the pool. They were mimicking a Screech Owl! So you could tell what was on their minds. I often heard Screech Owls at night around there.
