Hello Tweeters,
I am hesitating on the ID of this so different looking Goose seeing in the
Aberdeen Bishop Athletic Complex at around 6.00 PM yesterday evening.
Vicki and Mark Biltz birdied the Coastal area yesterday,as it already was
late going home we saw a group of Canada Geese on the Playfield,I mention
the many Greater White-fronted Geese Patrick and I had on this location. So
we all decided even so Parents with there kids arriving for a Game on the
fields. We walked out knowing where this Geese where.
Also among the Geese and we counted all in the end about 84 Geese all
together where a faked Wolve figure, discourage the Geese to going in to the
playfield.
Looking all this different marked Greater-White-fronted Geese,(some had a
lot of black markings on there breast, and there where also Juveniles easy to
ID since there had no white marking around there bill.
We give much attention to the 1 small Geese who was among the Greater White-
fronted Geese.
We could all see the difference in Size ,and there seems to be more dainier,
I also remember the smaller and shorter and bright pink bill. This bird
seems much darker in color for comparison being among the bigger Greater
White -fronted Geese
For comparison. The Playfield in the dark was now in action and coming in to
the car we made notes of this bird, there was no chance to get photos. But
coming home I looked at my Big Palearctic Identification Bird Book what we
bought when we found the Been Goose in Bowerman ,to find out what Subspecies
we had. By reading all the fieldmarks in this book it looked good what we
described. We spend most all the time examine this one small Goose, that in
the end we saw two possible more candidate for being Lesser.I trying
tomorrow to going and photographing this birds..Our Whole trip of birding
will follow.
