I have been trying to photograph GREEN HERONS for a while now with no
success until Saturday. I found 4 of them at the fill. One (a juvenile) was
in the slough that runs along the playfields and 3 (2 adults and 1 juvy) in
the reeds along the southeast shore near the tall cottonwoods. Yesterday I
found 3, probably the same ones. The one in the slough seems to be very
predictable and is usually about half way up toward the driving range. I
also watched a BLUE HERON at very close range catch and eat 2 medium sized
bullheads ( will put pictures up on my website later today).

On a side note, I had 62 WOOD DUCKS at my pond for breakfast this morning.
Approximately 75% were drakes and some of them are nearly colored up again.
They flush when I put the feed out but once I sit in my observation chair
they come parachuting in like crazy. They are really fun to watch as they
chatter while devouring the feed.
