Hello Tweeters,
Today at 8.45 AM I had 1 female Pileated Woodpecker coming to the Suet
feeder.It been exactly one month the first of August when the Adult female
bringing her two young bringing them to the feeders.She was feeding the
young while there holding on to the bark of my huge Birch tree.This bird
today took a long time to get on to the suet feeder,I suspect that this
female is one of the young offspring.
I having so many birds in my yard ,even having 8 feeders there all empty by
the end of day.Nothing spectacular,but the large amount I feeding.
To another note,I spend late afternoon in Kennedy Creek looking for
migrating Shorebirds.The high tide was at 6 04 PM at a 11.6 feet.I arrived
there about 3.30 PM and there where NO Shorebirds at all The tide was
coming in fast at around there was a small movement of peps coming from the
left. it was over by 5.00 PM,the whole place was flooded.I counted 160
Western and 2 Least Sandpipers.This was about the lowest count yet with no
other species either.There where many Gulls,but no Boneparte or a Franklin's
Gull.Most ALL where Ring-billed ,the Adults with there bright yellow
eye,with few California Gulls and 10 Caspian Terns.
The NEW NATURAL PRESERVE is open now.And there are 8 big display of
information about the birds are feeding on ,and some of the HISTORY from way
back in the 1800 hundreds.One of the BEST Preserve in the state of
Washington I been seeing.But now we need more Shorebirds showing up.Reading

there moving South .
