The five black swifts came bombing over my head at 8pm this evening, past the "three trees", at the SE side of Rest Lake. Meanwhile a great horned owl was calling and a pack of five coyotes was carrying on across the entrance road to the NW. Howling like crazy, in the tall grasses. The two ravens were flying across Rest Lake, the lead bird carrying a fish in its beak. There was a great egret out hunting, and up close, next to the road at the south end of Rest Lake, were three amazing tail-flashing active Wilson's snipe, just spitting distance from the car. What a great place.
