Subject: [Tweeters] Skamania County Birds

I visited Skamania Landing, near the town of Skamania, in
Skamania County (a little redundant isn't it?) to check for migrant
waterfowl and found a eclipse plumaged male BLUE-WINGED TEAL, a pair of
NORTHERN PINTAIL and several WOOD DUCKS in the small pond on State Park
Property on the east side of the bridge over Duncan Creek. The best bird
of the day was on property closed to the public where I found a LEWIS'
WOODPECKER in a nice stand of oaks. This is only my fifth sighting of
this species in the county over a thirty-five year period and four of
those also occurred in September.
