Subject: [Tweeters] Klickitat County Fall North American Migration Count

Folks,

Klickitat County will be having a Fall 2008 North American Migration
Count on Saturday, September 20th.

If you are interested in helping, either as a sector team member or
sector leader, please contact me as soon as possible.

Our first Migration Count was held in 1997 and it has been an
interesting 11 years. We did not hold counts in 2005 because of an
inadequate number of sector leaders. The Counts have been very useful
in terms of having a better idea of the distribution and proportion
of species, observing several county firsts ( including
Black-throated Blue Warbler (Stuart Johnson)), accidental sightings,
and new places to bird ( e.g., Alderdale Sewage Ponds for shore birds
( credit Patrick Sullivan)). Previous count results can be found at
http://community.gorge.net/birding/counts.htm .

We generally have approximately 140 species on the Fall Count but
this number can be very much dependent on the number of sectors being
surveyed. The County is divided into 8 to 10 sectors depending on the
number of participants, so it is important let me know as soon as
possible if you will be able to participate.

Thanks,
Bob Hansen
