Hi Tweeters,

Another active auduble nocturnal migration last night.

Swainson's Thrush 62
Yellow Warbler 8
warbler sp 15
sparrow sp 12

Last year I could identify more of the chips, this year, who knows.

Of interest this morning was a huge column of bugs (termites?) funneling up
from beyond the back deck. A flock of 30 Cedar Waxwings found them and were
hawking them for over an hour. They were joined by Barn and Violet-green
Swallows. One Orange-crowned Warbler was off the back deck. The Willow
Flycatcher and Western Wood Pewee look like they've departed for points
south. I still have a single sub-adult male Black-headed Grosbeak which
shows no fear as it comes to the feeder when I'm standing five feet away
from it.

Yesterday, I had four Turkey Vultures fly over which I think may be a daily
high count for the yard. Maybe not the most interesting thing in the world
but I apparently like anything that migrates.......... Two female Evening
Grosbeaks stopped long enough to be seen this morning. This is down from
the total of 20 that flew by yesterday.

Keeping eyes skyward........

Jim
