Greetings All

Now that David Irons and I have fed well upon Tacos Compuesto....

A bit of clearing up muddy waters, for I feel a bit guilty that more folks did not know yesterday evening what the Windust flycatcher was.

Mike Denny had sent photos of a "Sulphur-bellied Flycatcher" to several of us last evening. David and I responded quickly that the bird was not a SBFL, but either a Variegated or Piratic. Charlie Wright, who has rather extensive experience in the neotropics emailed Mike (independently) almost immediately after I did stating? that it was a Variegated supported by a list of cogent marks. Since Charlie's points were so clear, I had guessed that Charlie had cc'd Tweeters and/or that Mike would quickly post a correction.

I hope that not too many people will have missed this rather phenomenal bird because of the delay in the correct ID being made known.

Many thanks to MerryLynn and Mike for finding and photographing this spectacular bird and for sending out word plus photos quickly

... and thanks to Charlie for not only identifying the bird, but for detaling the reasons (as a decent reference, see latest edition of National Geo Guide).

Saludos
