Hi Tweeters,

I visited Windust Parkfairly early this morning and soon found Steve
Mlodinow and Dave Irons taking photos of the Variegated
Flycatcher. I joined the action and was surprised to find the
Variegated Flycatcher to be a very obligizing bird. It was also nice
to find the owners of the house at the west end of the park to be
very friendly. They allowed us into their backyard, which gave us
the best views in quite good light.

It was odd that this is probably the rarest bird in North America
right now, and it seemed most comfortable when it was perched on the
rim of a white, five-gallon bucket. Certainly not the best backdrop
but at least the bird stayed still for over five minutes. When it
first landed on the bucket, from my position I got the wheel and tire
of a pickup that was parked in the driveway in the background. I
moved to my left so I got the gravel of the driveway behind the
bird. It actually improved the photos!

Photos of this amazing find are in the new photos folder on my website.
