Did some birding across the eastern half of Clallam County this weekend, finding 119 species. Highlights included:

FOS=first of season
DRA=Dungeness Recreation Area

Green-winged Teal 1 (female at about 3000' Bon Jon Pass marsh, 9/6, unusual location)
Black Scoter 1 (FOS, imm female, Graysmarsh public beach access 9/6)
Pacific Golden-Plover 1 (juv, Oyster House near Sequim, 9/7)
Marbled Godwit 4 (Cline Spit)
RED KNOT 3 (juv, Graysmarsh Public Beach access 9/6; long expected first for property list)
Baird's Sandpiper 1 (Graysmarsh Public Beach 9/6)
Red-necked Phalarope 20 (as previous)
Eur. Collared-Dove 3 (2, hillside above Oyster House, courting; 1, east end of Twin View Drive just east, 9/7)
Barred Owl 1 (calling near Dungeness Forks campground pre-dawn 9/7)
W. Screech Owl 1 (heard near Youngquist Rd meeting pt with Palo Alto Rd, pre-dawn 9/7)
N. Pygmy-Owl 1 (as previous)
LEWIS' WOODPECKER 1 (flyby, 7:45 am, near Morse Creek overlook, first part of Mt. Angeles Rd on ascent to Hurricane Ridge, 9/7)
Barn Swallow 300 (Schmuck Rd 9/7)
Townsend's Solitaire 1 (near Bon Jon Pass 9/6)
Am. Pipit 3 (FOS, Graysmarsh Public beach 9/6)
CHIPPING SPARROW 3 (2, Hurricane Ridge Visitor Center, 9/7; one, Morse Creek overlook 9/7, possible 4th at DRA 9/7)
Lincoln's Sparrow 1 (FOS 9/7, DRA)
Fox Sparrow 1 (FOS DRA 9/7)
Golden-crowned Sparrow 3 (FOS DRA 9/7)

The LEWIS' WOODPECKER was the clear highlight, and there seems to be a pretty good flight so far judging from reports. CHIPPING SPARROWS were also a surprise, and I had wished for more time at Hurricane Ridge where more birds may have been present had I time to hike the Hurricane hill trail.
