swmbo and her dog, spike, and i dropped by the fill to see if we could spot
any baby pied-billed grebes (which we did, along with a very nice green
heron) and saw a sparrow. since i had, of course. left the book and the
scope in the car we naturally ran across a several sparrows munching in the
gravel of the path. upon reaching the car, we checked sibley, and the bird
that looked exactly like this sparrow was the rufous winged sparrow. since
it seems unlikely said sparrows migrate from southern arizona to cananea,
mexico via the union bay natural whatever it is, i'm leaning toward doubting
the id. hence my question: what do you fill-meisters call the bird we saw?
