Hi Tweeters,

Yes this is off topic but within the parameters I believe.
I wish Kevin Li was still with us, as off the top of my head
he would probably have had the best idea of what this thing is.
I think it is a jellyfish thing. It could easily have been
dropped, dumped or drifted to the edge of the inflow/outflow
of the salmon ponds on campus in Portage Bay and not
originated from fresh water. For example there is a kelp
bullwhip in S. Lake Union which most certainly didn't
originate in L. Union.

This thing was nearly the circumference of a basketball and when
I tossed a rock on it it tipped up enough to show a bell like shape
like a jellyfish. I have never seen anything quite like it. It
was gone the next time I was on campus. I hope someone who
could identify it fished it out of the water but who knows
what happened to it.

Anyone so inclined check out the photo's and let me
know what you think this might be.
