We had a startling experience while hiking a trail in Mt. Rainier Park. We sat down to eat lunch and immediately Gray Jays showed up. There was one bird that flew right at my wife's face in an attempt to nab her PB&J sandwich. It was quite unsettling to find the birds so aggressive. We even had Clark's Nutcrackers show up for handouts. We were far from the normal visitor centers and thus these birds must have been conditioned even in this more remote out of the way place with a campground nearby.
