Last Tuesday (turned out to be a gorgeously sunny day) Dan Streiffert and I
went to Gray's Harbor area for a day of bird photography. We struck out at
Midland and Bottle beaches but had very good luck at Tokeland and Westport
harbor.

The highlight at Tokeland (and indeed for the day, the week, and maybe even
the month) was the PEREGRINE FALCON who perched on a mast in the harbor and
posed for us.

Here's a link to a few photos taken that day in the two places: Peregrine
Falcon, Marbled Godwits, California Sea Lions, Brown Pelicans, and Heerman's
Gulls.

The sea lion sitting on the deck in the photos startled the heck out of me
at one time. I was at the end of the dock (exactly where the sea lion ended
up sitting) looking for him/her when it surfaced (unbeknownst to me) about 6
feet behind me (according to Dan who was watching), raised way up out of the
water, and barked extremely loudly. I darn near jumped off the dock! I
didn't though, and survived to take quite a few fun photos.
