Sightings for Saturday, September 20th

A BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPER was with 100 KILLDEER, 11 AMERICAN GOLDEN-
PLOVERS, and one PACIFIC GOLDEN-PLOVER on the Turf Farm along 72nd
Street in Delta. Many AMERICAN PIPITS and a LAPLAND LONGSPUR
were also in this field.

A SHARP-TAILED SANDPIPER, the first of the fall, was reported in a flock
Of PECTORAL SANDPIPERS at the foot of 96th Street in Delta.


Sightings for Friday, September 19th

An ASH-THROATED FLYCATCHER was observed at the tip of the Iona Island
South Jetty in Richmond, and a PALM WARBLER was seen around the gate
near the base of the North Jetty.


Sightings for Thursday, September 18th

A late OSPREY was seen at Hawthorne Park in Surrey.

Lighthouse Marine Park in Point Roberts, Washington produced a RUDDY
TURNSTONE and at least one PARASITIC JAEGER.

At least 30 COMMON TERNS and an adult WESTERN GULL were seen at the White
Rock pier in White Rock.


Sightings for Wednesday, September 17th

A "white striped" WHITE-THROATED SPARROW was observed at the Maplewood
Conservation Area, North Vancouver.

An EARED GREBE and a PARASITIC JAEGER were observed west of the White
Rock Pier in White Rock.

Two MARBLED GODWITS, a RED KNOT, and an AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVER were
present with other shorebirds near the mansion west of 96th Street on the
Boundary Bay dyke in Delta.

Another MARBLED GODWIT and a LONG-BILLED CURLEW were at Blackie Spit in
Surrey.


Sightings for Tuesday, September 16th

A STILT SANDPIPER was seen in "Farm Slough", the small bay at the base of
Blackie Spit Park in Surrey.

At least 60 COMMON TERNS were feeding just off the White Rock Pier in White
Rock.

A TURKEY VULTURE was seen near 176th Street and 88th Avenue in Surrey.


Sightings for Monday, September 15th

A late CHIPPING SPARROW was seen and photographed at the Maplewood
Conservation Area in North Vancouver.


Sightings for Sunday, September 14th

Three LAPLAND LONGSPURS were seen along the Iona Island south jetty in
Richmond.

Two EURASIAN COLLARED-DOVES were at the railway yards in Port Coquitlam,
a new locality for this species.

Three LAPLAND LONGSPURS were seen along the Iona Island south jetty in
Richmond.


Sightings for Friday, September 12th

A VESPER SPARROW continues along the edge of the Rowing Pavilion
parking lot at Burnaby Lake in Burnaby. Nearby at the fitness circuit
on Sperling Avenue was a PALM WARBLER.

A probable RED-NECKED PHALAROPE was seen on the pond at Jericho
Beach Park in Vancouver.


Sightings for Thursday, September 11th

A SURFBIRD was seen at the Tsawwassen ferry terminal in Delta,
and a MARBLED GODWIT and LONG-BILLED CURLEW were at Blackie Spit
Park on Mud Bay in Surrey.


Sightings for Wednesday, September 10th

A VESPER SPARROW was found along the edge of the Rowing Pavilion
parking lot at Burnaby Lake Park in Burnaby.

A LEWIS' WOODPECKER was seen and photographed at Blackie Spit
in Surrey.

A CLAY-COLOURED SPARROW continues near the foot of 104th St in Delta.


Sightings for Tuesday, September 9th

8 EURASIAN COLLARED-DOVES were on 96th St just south of Hornby Drive
and 1 RED KNOT and 1 PECTORAL SANDPIPER were on Boundary Bay near the
foot of 104th St, Delta

A CLAY-COLOURED SPARROW was discovered near the foot of 104th Street
on Boundary Bay in Delta.

Many migrant songbirds were seen at the Maplewood Conservation Area in
North Vancouver, including 3 WESTERN TANAGERS, a late BLACK-HEADED
GROSBEAK, and at least 6 species of warblers.


Sightings for Monday, September 8th

3 SPOTTED SANDPIPERS were along East Beach in White Rock.


Sightings for Sunday, September 7th

Birds seen along the Iona Island south jetty in Richmond included
3 PARASITIC JAEGERS, 20 COMMON TERNS, a RED-THROATED LOON, 2
RHINOCEROS AUKLETS, and a LAPLAND LONGSPUR.

A TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRE, rare in fall, was seen at Campbell Valley
Regional Park in Langley.


Sightings for Saturday, September 6th

A SOLITARY SANDPIPER was in the ditch east of the foot of 104th St on
Boundary Bay in Delta.

The following were observed among the shorebirds on Boundary Bay
between the foot of 104th St and 88th St: a RUDDY TURNSTONE, 5 RED
KNOTS, 3 AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVERS, a MARBLED GODWIT, a LONG-BILLED
CURLEW, 15 DUNLIN, and 7 BAIRD'S SANDPIPERS.

Birds of note along the Iona Island south jetty in Richmond
included 4 LAPLAND LONGSPURS, a RED-THROATED LOON, 3 PARASITIC JAEGERS,
and a RHINOCEROS AUKLET.
