Hello All
My dad and I spent a fine morning in Mount Rainier NP, hiking about 9 miles
round trip from the Mowich Lake parking area up beyond Spray Park to the
alpine meadows below Flett Glacier. A memorable way to spend a birthday. We
saw few birds in general, but a few were worth posting.

Western Grebe (1)-Mowich Lake!
Cooper's Hawk (1)
Sharp-shinned Hawk (1)
Merlin (2)
Golden Eagle (2ad.): soaring around Hessong Rock.
Mountain Chickadee (1)
Ruby-crowned Kinglet (1)-migrating.
Gray-crowned Rosy-Finch (1): near Flett Glacier.
Song Sparrow (1)-Spray Park.

Also found were at least 6 Black Bears (including one large cinnamon-toned
animal), a Mountain Goat, and lots of Hoary Marmots, Townsend's Chipmunks
and Pikas.
