A ballot for voting on the Bylaws amendment October 6, 2008 is available
at our website, wos.org and in issue #117 of WOSNews that has just been
mailed. This amendment pertains to our committees and specifically
allows term limits for membership on the Washington Bird Records
Committee. If you are a member of WOS in good standing you may bring
your ballot to cast at the Monday, October 6, 2008 meeting in Seattle,
or you may mail your ballot to our post office box date stamped no later
than October 6. You do not need to vote again if you have already sent
in your vote. Please feel free to call or email any officer or Board
member if you have questions.

The WBRC agrees with the WOS Board that term limits, such as those
practiced by other BRCs in the country, may be helpful to the committee
and we are all conferencing now on how to best bring the change about
while retaining the historical perspective and high standard of work the
committee has produced in the past. Please read their published
reports, beginning in Washington Birds #3, 1994 to appreciate their
procedures and the depth of well-considered decisions they have made to
create our official checklist of Washington Birds. The current
checklist may be accessed at http://www.wos.org/WAlist01.htm
