Thank you to Khanh and Tom for finding this beautiful bird. Every since I started birding three years ago the Hawk Owl has been my most sought after bird in North America. I got up to Hart's Pass around noon and was walking into the burn when I heard the bird call. A couple from Redmond had just pulled up and the man spotted the bird perched up in a tree no more than twenty feet from where I stood. For the next few hours we had marvelous views of the bird from various perches. My girlfriend and I even saw it capture and devour a mouse! The bird was very tame and quite active, I got some decent pictures, but I haven't posted them anywhere yet. It seemed like the bird had a good food supply so hopefully it will stick around. Thanks again guys, I missed the Hawk Owl last year at Grand Coulee so this was a real treat.
