You may not have heard the sad news that Patricia Lott was killed in a
traffic accident Friday evening.



Patricia served on the WOS board last year and was an extremely engaged and
enthusiastic board member. The weekend before the accident she traveled to
Kelso and Vancouver to set up next year's WOS convention, meeting with the
hotel representatives and active local birders to get the field trip
schedule sketched out well in advance.



I first met Patricia on a field trip I led to Naches Pass three years ago.
She suffered debilitating chronic health problems and for a time was
confined to a wheelchair, but was able by sheer determination to climb the
rope on Kelly Butte to view the Rock Wrens. She championed field trips for
handicapped birders, knowing personally the importance of reaching out to
everyone with the joy of birding.
