Subject: [Tweeters] Northern Hawk Owl Hart's Pass

Hey Joel, a pleasure. It is a magnificent specimen. It seemed to be
staying in the immediate area between the Meadows Campground and the
Harts Pass Road. We even relocated it two times after it flew from our
initial observation. Hopefully, it will stick around so that others can
see it. I also chased and missed the Hawk Owl at Grand Coulee so it was
great to see this Lifer.

Thank you to Khanh and Tom for finding this beautiful bird. Every since
I started birding three years ago the Hawk Owl has been my most sought
after bird in North America. I got up to Hart's Pass around noon and
was walking into the burn when I heard the bird call. A couple from
Redmond had just pulled up and the man spotted the bird perched up in a
tree no more than twenty feet from where I stood. For the next few
hours we had marvelous views of the bird from various perches. My
girlfriend and I even saw it capture and devour a mouse! The bird was
very tame and quite active, I got some decent pictures, but I haven't
posted them anywhere yet. It seemed like the bird had a good food
supply so hopefully it will stick around. Thanks again guys, I missed
the Hawk Owl last year at Grand Coulee so this was a real treat.
