Just about every form of wheeled device was out in the Snoqualmie Valley
Saturday, April 4 when Mike West and I took a casual birding tour on this first
sunny day in a long time. We had about 40 species as well 2 coyotes, one
near Carnation Farms and the other along the side-trail that goes to the river
from the Stillwater trail. There was a Northern Shrike working the open area
of the Stillwater side-trail, in an area just before reaching the Snoqualmie
River. Another interesting find was the female Mountain Bluebird that was
hawking insects from tall conifer trees. The trees are located at the corner
of SE 28th St. and 316th Ave. SE. 316th Ave. SE can be reached from a couple
of different roads off of the Fall City road, west of Fall City. A Mourning
Dove was seen near the Tolt River Bridge. There weren't many sparrows, but
there was a variety of ducks in various ponds and flooded fields.
