Yes, it was a great day yesterday, particularly at Yost Park in
Edmonds. A group of us from a Lake Forest Park birding group selected
this park to go to - only one or two had ever been there before. We
saw a lot of birds and heard a lot as well. Here's a list of the
highlight birds:

PILEATED WOODPECKER pair digging out a nest from a snag

HAIRY WOODPECKER

DOWNY WOODPECKER (at least 3)

VARIED THRUSH (at least 3, including 2 I saw while sitting in my car
in the parking lot)

HERMIT THRUSH

WINTER WREN

ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER foraging in red huckleberry bushes

ANNA'S HUMMINGBIRD (at least 3)

BROWN CREEPER (2)

COOPER'S HAWK flying over the ravine

the rest were the usual woods birds like kinglets, nuthatches,
chickadees, song sparrows, pine siskins, robins, towhees, bushtits,
Steller's jays, etc.

Great thing was that there were few people there while we were (10
a.m. - 12noon) and, only one of the 2 dogs I recall seeing on the
trail was off leash. :-)
