hello tweeties,

i have been very busy putting together several things for you to read and enjoy. first, i write about a paper about eurasian jackdaws and their uncanny ability to read people's gaze;

here is this week's issue of Birds in the News, featuring, among other things, an image of a common cuckoo and some April Fools Day stories;

today's mystery bird, thanks to photographer, Joseph Kennedy, can be viewed here;

to address a tremendous deficiency in the blogosphere, i launched a new blog carnival that celebrates the best recent science, nature and medical writing published in the blogosphere. "Scientia pro Publica" (Science for the People) includes a suite of wonderful writing about a huge variety of scientific topics, including a fair number of essays about birds. it's better than a magazine because it is timely and most of the pieces are written by scientists or professional science writers;

for those of you who are interested in invertebrates, here is today's issue of Circus of the Spineless, which includes essays about birds! Well, the essays are about invertebrates -- as bird food;
