This morning I went to Mima Mounds Natural Area to see what I could
see, and found that the resident Sooty Grouse is now hooting. I never
laid eyes on him; he was too deep in the forest. If you want to look
for him, walk the paved nature trail through the Douglas-fir forest,
especially between interpretive stations 9 and 10. If he's hooting
you'll know it; finding him is another matter.
