My wife had a conference to attend at Semiahmoo in Blaine, so I joined her
and squeezed in some late afternoon birding today along the spit. The
stars of the show were definitely the Common Loons. Everywhere I looked
near and far there was a loon all decked out in their black & white checked
breeding plumage- quite stunning a close range. The Red-throated Loons
were still in their winter plumage.

Marbled Godwit - 1 seen with the scope nearer to Blaine

Horned Grebe - 40, about 70% in breeding plumage

Harlequin Duck - 30 up close on the docks
Long-tailed Duck - 2
