Hi Tweets

This morning about 11, I spotted the Clark's Grebe that has been hanging out on the Duwamish River. I first saw it from the overlook at the T105 park (park in the lot and walk slightly to the left down to the river overlook). The Clark's was hanging out with 2 Western Grebes in the distance to the left in the space between the barges. The light was great and you could clearly see the bright yellow bill and the white above the eye - this was particularly evident in relation to the two Western Grebes also present close by.

I then drove around to the public access point across the river. Take E. Marginal Way S down to just past the State Liquour Control Board. At the light, Diagonal Ave, turn right and drive to the end of the road. Walk out on the access point and you will be able to scan up and down the channel. This morning the Clark's was first seen down river (to the right) near the large barge with another Western. They slowly worked their way upriver (to the left), at one point coming within about 3 feet of each other and raising the feathers on either side of the head and moving the head around. The Clark's then proceeded upriver, at one point being less than 100 feet from me. Great study through the scope under great light.

Well worth the effort.

Good Birding!!
