Also meant to mention that I am somewhat concerned about these owls
survival. I observed a RED-TAILED HAWK hunting from a telephone pole
only about four poles south of the owls location. In addition, there
was a NORTHERN HARRIER quartering the fields on both sides of Booker
Road. I would suspect, that the adult BURROWING OWLS and its offspring
could be potential prey for both raptors - not to mention vehicle
traffic, which caused the demise of the famous Mansfield NORTHERN HAWK
OWL.
