Krystal Kyer with Tahoma Audubon asked that I pass this on for anyone who wants to participate in the Roy 'bioblitz'. Click on the link for more information.

"I wanted to let you know that I am coordinating a large citizen science event near Roy, WA on May 15-16, 2009. We are inviting landowners, residents, and biologists to come together to survey the area for a variety of taxa, including birds, mammals, invertebrates, reptiles, amphibians, and plants. We are especially interested in Oak Woodlands and remnant prairie habitats in the area. Our survey is outside of Fort Lewis, but adjacent to it in two areas. Additionally, the survey area is part of the Fort Lewis Important Bird Area (IBA) and the Nisqually Biodiversity Management Area (BMA), region 10E.

The BioBlitz is organized by Tahoma Audubon, Pierce County Biodiversity Alliance, NatureMapping, Northwet Trek, and Wa Dept. of Fish and Wildlife, along with support from Pierce County, Nisqually Stream Stewards, Metro Parks Tacoma, and others.

Here is a link to more information about the Bioblitz: http://depts.washington.edu/natmap/about/howto.html. Please feel free to spread the word, as well. I have other promotional materials available, volunteer sign up forms, etc if your are interested."
