We made our annual pilgrimage to see the Sandhill Cranes and all the other Spring inhabitants of Grant & Adams Counties.

After one frustrating trip to the Othello Cemetery, Sunday morning, to look for the Great Horned Owl on a nest, we got online and looked at the Tweeters Digest to see if we could glean better directions for finding the owl.

Thanks to Randy Hill's excellent description of it's location we were able to go back Saturday evening and immediately locate it. During our earlier trip, we had noticed a lot of owl pellets and bones under a large Spruce tree at the right end of the parking lot while facing South so we knew there was an owl in the vicinity.

Monday morning we went back to get a better look at the fledgling in the bright light of a clear day. While there, we discovered the male Great Horned sitting in the Spruce tree where we'd seen all the pellets. We could actually see both the nest with the female and the fledgling and the male in the Spruce tree from the same location in the North parking lot as described by Randy Hill. What a treat!!!
