Hi all,
?
Delia & I went to Seward Park?this evening?for a change of pace--and mood-- after work and it worked out REALLY WELL.??Most unusual was we?heard two singing PURPLE FINCH in the main woods and by the South Eagle-nest meadow, and that was a first for us at this Park that I can remember.? The BARRED OWLS were over the spine trail doing?amazing vocalizations, and one dove from high in a?Fir through the woods toward the other. Also with great vocalizations were the three PARROTS, but high in the trees and immediately taking flight, we had no idea whether they were Mitred or Scarlet-fronted or both.??
?
The BROWN CREEPERS were singing up a storm, as were the WINTER WRENS, one or two Bewick's Wrens and a?Junco.? Both BALD EAGLE pairs were at their respective nests, some VIOLET-GREEN SWALLOWS were overhead--hopefully having survived the cold,?FLICKERS and one?PILEATED were singing, a RED-BREASTED NUTHATCH vocalized, as did a flock of PINE SISKINS, and?we heard one RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD, and ?Delia heard a RED-WINGED BLACKBIRD.? We also?saw?a VARIED THRUSH.
?
Visitors to Butyl Creek in our back yard?have included Hermit Thrush, White-crowned, Fox & Golden-crowned Sparrows and Orange-crowned Warblers.?Unremarkable photos of these?bathers?(I'm putting them up now) are??at http://ednewbold.com/sightings.html
