Hi All,

Seven of us enjoyed an enjoyable sunny, calm day wandering around
Bainbridge Island and areas in north Kitsap County. Although passerine
and shorebird migrants were in short supply we did manage to eek out 107
species for the day. Highlights included:

CLARK'S GREBE - one that has over-wintered at the south side of
Bainbridge Island. Great light allowed nice comparative looks as it
loafed with 3 other Western Grebes.

EURASIAN COLLARED-DOVE - I'm quite sure I won't be listing them as a
highlight in the not so distant future. Three were at the farm/winery
area to the south of Hansville. So far they seem to be only a transient
during this time of year in Kitsap County.

MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRD - A female was flycatching from a flagpole half way
down the road going to the lighthouse at Point no Point. Vic Nelson
observed this bird the previous day closer to the lighthouse. There was
also a female at Foulweather Bluff Nature Preserve from last Saturday
until Friday. I'm not sure if it was present yesterday.

TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRE - One near the same location as the PnP Mt. Bluebird.

RED CROSSBILL - A highlight for me as two near Restoration Point on
Bainbridge Island were my first of the year over here in Kitsap County.
I guess no cone crop translates to no crossbills at least in the western
Puget Trough.

Cheers and good birding,
