We have flown often with a full-sized Leica Televid. The scope (angled body)
goes in whatever we're carrying on. The first two or three flights I made
sure to tell the TSA folks what that long tube thing they'd be seeing (next
to a couple of binoculars) was, but they didn't seem to care, and recently
I've stopped mentioning it. No problems at all, either way, domestically or
internationally. (If we're bringing the full-boat, won't get blown over,
tripod and fluid head, that usually gets checked.)
