This afternoon Joann Sims and I witnessed an incredible sight on Hood
Canal!! Just north of the Alderwood Resort was a flotilla of between 3 and 4
dozen Common Loons. They swam back and forth, calling and diving
constantly. There must have been a very large school of fish because a lot of gulls
were also trying to get their share.

We consider ourselves lucky when we see 2 or 3 loons, but over 3 dozen at
once? And rarely do we hear them call.

I just had to share this incredible highlight of our afternoon of birding.
