Has anyone ever taken the Alaska Marine Highway System ferry from Kodiak to Dutch Harbor (Unalaska)? My husband and I are thinking about doing the trip next year. It looks like the boat only runs once a month, so we wouldn't have a lot of time to spend between ports...but the marine birding would be good, and perhaps it would be worth spending a day or two on Kodiak beforehand, or Dutch Harbor after. Any recommendations for which one?

If we do the trip, I will probably email with a million birding questions...for now, would just love your thoughts on the Aleutians!
